inconclusive test result

hi there, i was just wondering whether anyone can help me. i have done 2 home pregnancy tests both of which were positive then a doctors test came back as inconclusive and has to be re-done, can anybody shed some light on this as i'm a bit curious as to what happens next, also i have all the classic signs of pregnancy .

As far as I know, a home pregnancy test cannot come back positive unless you are pregnant as it detects HGH (think this is the correct one) in your urine. It is impossible to have this hormone in your urine unless you are pregnant. You can have false negatives in a home test if you are in the very early stages of pregnancy and the hormone level is not high enough to detect.
Chances are - you are pregnant! congratulations!

you may be in the very early stages and then HCG level is still low.
were you testing with your first urine of day (thats more concentrated) and was the GP?
how late is your period, it may be that youre not far along at all.
Has your GP mentioned blood tests?

I always believed that a HP kit will never give a false positive, it might give a negative positive, but never the other way round.

That made no sense- did it?

there are very rare causes of a false positive.

ask your GP for a blood test if the next urine test is inconclusive.

Home Kits are roughly 90% accurate.

thanks for your answers guys, when i tested at home neither was first urine yet they were both positive, i have just provided my first urine of the day to the gp this morning so hopefully this time it will show positive, i do think that it is because i will only be about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant.

hi guys, just phoned for the results and this time it came back positive : ) so thats baby number 2 on the way, thanks for all your advice people.
