MM Links Solutions July 2009 [Week 2]
10 Answers
Good evening linkers. Queen Julia of the Links. was inspired by Crofter's niece's wedding for the first half of her links, but what about the other halves of her pairings? I can now reveal that her chosen links were:
BLIND date
CUPBOARD love
ring TONE
SHOTGUN wedding
As usual with these links games, the rules are stated at the start and amongst them it states that the length of the words you are trying to guess will always be from 4 to 8 letters. Crofter has also reminded players here in the answer thread.
Despite that, three players wasted a guess by opting for EAR ring (1 person) and ENGAGEMENT ring (2 people)
Say after me "Minimum 4 - Maximum 8"
This was a higher scoring week than last, so to find out who scored what, read on . . .

centrino, Strix & Grenmuswere within 2 minutes, qualifying for a bonus point and each picked up 2 points for BLIND DATE.
The final link of SHOTGUN WEDDING held out for 38 minutes before finally being spotted by Christiana for 2 points
A couple of later double hitters also picked up 2 points (as singles) - they were Aquagility & twix.
12 linkers scored a single point.
So with four double-hitters, who will be Hot-Shot of the week? It has to be one of the two 4-pointers.
I have decided it will be tearinghair because she was the only one in the whole game to guess CUPBOARD LOVE.
Congratulations tearinghair - HOTSHOT of the week

We have four joint leaders at this half-way stage of the month.
on 4 points beejay1124, centrino, Grenmus & tearinghair
on 3 points SHAZZA-Hewat & twix123
on 2 points 9 players
on 1 point 12 players
Just one final story to show how determined some players can be.
Yesterday, The Ont-Ices' house was struck by lightning. They were unhurt, but it frazzled their TV, phone & computer. The game of course had priority, so a quick mobile call was made to the UK and their entries were passed in well in time.
We hope all is well with you over in Canada.
Next week Crofter will be back on the abacus, so until then, this is gen2 saying 'Bye for now'.

That was a fair strategy evsajo. You had the choice of:-
(a) picking up single points if the links were fairly obvious and had already been found.
or (b) going for fresh links in the hope of picking up bonus points for a previously undiscovered link.
Unfortunately, this week, the former strategy was the right one.
