Hi everybody,

My question is: If you hold a Full UK Provisional Driving Liscence, are 17, and have somebody in the car with you (with so many years driving experience) are you allowed to drive that car (maybe with "L" plates on)?

Many Thanks

Yes. As long as that person has a full valid license. Otherwise driving instructors wouldn't be allowed to teach you.....
As long as the other person is over 21 and has had a full driving licence for min of 3 years and assuming that you are insured to drive that particular car, then yes.
And definately with L plates on, not maybe...
Also you must check that the insurance will cover you.
& there would be no manybe about the "L" Plates, they would have to be a must.

Equally, you either hold a full OR provisional liscene, you cant have a full provisional.
The person sitting with you can't be over the alcohol limit either!
OK let me clarify this for you.

The person in the passenger seat must be at least 21yrs old and have held a FULL UK licence for over 4yrs. You are then entitled to drive that car under his/her tuition providing that the vehicle is INSURED for you as a provisional driving licence holder to drive it.

If YOU are not insured to drive the vehicle then you are not entitled to drive it or any other vehicle.
PeelerPal, it's three years that the person in the passenger seat has to have held a full license for.... (the 4 years is to get recognised as a ADI approved instructor)

Apart from the above, the car has to have an MOT if its required and also road tax.
