old murder film

when I was a child in the late 60's, I remember watching a film that scared me (what were my parents thinking?!) It was an oldie, Bette Davis- type film (though not her) where someone was murdered, I think by a woman, and the body was hidden behind an old brick fireplace and bricked up. Any ideas what it could have been ?
