I have been soaking walnuts in brine (change devery other day) for 10 days. The recipe says now bottle them in spiced vinigar. Does the green outer covering get removed before pickling? or does the hole walnut as picked get put into thesterlised mars? Thanks for any advice offered

They're pickled whole. Check out 'pickled walnut recipe' on Google. Most don't bother with changing the brine, soak them for up to a month, and say to dry them off and wait for them to turn black before bottling and pickling them.
