I'm thinking of getting one of those USB record players that allows you to transfer vinyl LP's to the PC and then to disc/mp3. Has anyone used one, and are they worth buying?

I have done this but did it by buying an ADS instant music box and plugged my deck into the box and box to the USB port, then used Nero. HAve converted around 200 lps so far. The decks you refer to are OK though from all the reports I have had, but a bit more expensive way of doing it, but possibly less hassle.

I did something similar to Androcles. I unfortunately can't remember the website but for about £20 I got a lead which connects my stereo to my computer and a cd of software called "audacity". This puts lps or cassettes onto my pc and I can even split them up into separate tracks.

Seems a lot more reasonable than the price of a USB turntable. As regards results, the quality is as good as what you put in, i.e you will still have record noise but then again some people like that.
