Also on Telewest Blueyonder Broadband 1MB, use a Linksys WRT54G router with a Centrino Laptop. Works a dream, signal occassionally drops though.

i would personally recommend getting rid of AOL. the best way to trash a PC is by installing AOL.

as for wireless routers, i mainly deal with the Netgear Wireless Routers and would highly recommend them. Another good brand, and popular for home users is Linksys. Both the Netgear and Linksys brands should meet your needs and not let you down. They are cost effective as well.

on the whole, wireless routers are very easy to setup. It took me under 2 minutes to get my home PC's connected to my Netgear. What does take a little research though, is securing your wireless connection so not any old Joe from off the street, or your neighbours, connects to your network and compromises security. I would recommend researching the security functions a little and follow the products instructions.

my router has been running non-stop now for a couple of years with no issues. good luck with your setup - and please get rid of AOL :-)

I have a Netgear DG834G Wireless router installed in the roofspace of my bungalow. There is an iMac hard wired to it from my study, and a MacIntosh Power Book which will work from anywhere in the house wirelessly. Both computers are permanently connected, so no dialling up, and the router is on all the time. There is no problem with making phone calls - the whole thing works like a dream.
