Broadband connection keeps dropping
My ISP is Wanadoo and my modem is the 'Stingray' model.I was connected thru a phone extension lead but have now changed to proper RJ11 cable so its not that ! I have tried another modem which suffered the same problem so its not that ! I am connected thru a filter that is shared only with the telephone, all other connections have been removed from the main phone socket so it shouldnt be that.
My connection drops and shows 'initialising line' for 30 seconds or so and then is fine again. This can last for several minutes or several hours until it goes again.
Im stumped as to what it can be.All I have left to try is another filter(but Ive tried 2 with no improvement already) and then get Wanadoo to thoroughly check my line.
Any ideas anyone ?

Your modem will have a light that is lit when the phone line has an adsl signal. Keep an eye on that too. That should indicate if it is a line problem or a usb problem like d0gsb0dy suggested.
If it goes out when your connection drops, it would be the line.
