Cat or Dog

Are you a Cat person?  A Dog person? And, why?

I have three cats and two dogs and love them all equally, for different reasons.  I suppose if I had to really choose it would be dogs that would come out on top because they can come out everywhere with me - however, cats can be just as loving and companiable.  I don't think any of my pets know whether they are dogs or cats - they pick up behavioural traits from each other and all cuddle up together on occasions.

definately a dog person,I have a really bad allergy to cats,even if they have been in a room and have since gone I react.the thought of stroking one makes my skin crawl (sorry cat owners,no offence)my eyes swell up and I feel itchy and then usually have an asthma attack.

When I was living at home, Mum & Dad had dogs at different times & I adored them both.

As the years passed, I became more of a cat person. There is nothing quite like snuggling up on the sofa stroking & listening to a cat's purr - it's very relaxing & therapautic. Having said that, we haven't had a cat since our Smudge died.

All the wild birds, squirrels & fish are my pets now.

Dogs every time - sorry ladies!  I'm so fed up of seeing the local moggies disappearing through the hedge with birds.  I hope I'm not tempting fate but I've never had a dog bite but I have been bitten by a cat!

.I am ashamed to say I am frightened of cats.
As a child I was on an errand for my Mum and they had a cat in the local shop which used to sit up on a shelf.It jumped onto my shoulder and clung on and clawed me.I was terrified.I suppose this has stuck in my mind.I will willingly go and get my elderly neighbour's cat in for her but I'm not keen!! I sort of pick it up and hold it at arms length!!
If I were to suddenly "like" cats for some reason I would still never have one because I would be worried that it would get run over or lost as you can't control them like dogs.We have always owned dogs so most definitely a dog person.

Robinia - I know what you mean about cats with birds - which is why we've decided against having another pet cat! We love the birds too much & I don't fancy hoovering anymore little birds legs up from under the bed!

shaneystar - it's strange how things like that stick in your mind. When I was about 9, I was running along the pavement with my friend, when a dog started chasing after us. It caught hold of my nice flowy yellow frock with it's teeth & ripped it from the waist down! This absolutely terrified me, but Mum & Dad soon reassured me that not all dogs are like that!

I have 1 cat Dusty, and he is my little baby, He follows me around this house and is very lovin cat, I have been brought up with cats and dogs but I prefer cats.

I have always had cats,i didnt really bother with dogs.I met my boyfriend 2 years ago he has a dog,she had puppies and we kept one.We are now living together 2dogs 1 cat,it has changed my opinion of dogs -I love em!!

But i guess I`ll always be a cat person!

I was always a dog person only ,and totally indifferent to cats,until 12 years ago.We decided to adopt an unwanted cat from a friend of a friend.That cat was our gorgeous Yasmin,and I have been completely enslaved since then! We got Spike three years later,and I couldn't imagine a life without cats now!

Well, this question always gets a lot of responses, and I have never found one animal as being superior to the other. So far, it�s three for cats, and three for dogs, and then I forgot how I didn�t cast a vote. My vote is for the cuddly, fury, beautiful cats.

I just love all animals Eternity.  We had a dog when I was small but my husband had had cats and we have always had cats since we were first married.  We had a budgie, Mindy, till she was ten.  She was beautiful.  To date was have had six cats.  Our two at the moment are about a year and a half.  They are so fascinating to watch with such different personalities each and every one.   So I guess Im a cat person.

Like Peri, I love all animals and am especially attracted to the ugly ones that noone else wants.  We have four rescue animals at present - one of the ugly ones that was ill treated had next to no fur and was a weird looking little dog - who has actually turned out to be a beautiful little Yorkie who is the most beautiful in the household.

I have had birds with deformed feet, cats with deformed mouths, etc. etc.  Mr FP is not ugly though!!

I think i prefer cats, i've only ever had one cat who I took in cause he was a stray and only had one eye but he was my baby and definately my favourite out of all the other pets i ever had his name was jack and he would follow me everywhere,We have a dog now tho,major who i adore, i'd love to own a cat as well but we live right next to a duel carriageway so it just wouldn't be safe
