I actually agree with everything you said in the PS section of your post before last, I was just a bit worried by the "PC-brigade" comments. Measured comments shouldn't come across as racist - yours were, so didn't! If you see what I mean! :-p
ODDLY E-BLINKING-NOUGH...
MY religion requires that anyone (police, burglars, murderers, itinerant plumbers, invading armies, etc.,) gives me a phone call 3 and a half hours before they intend to smash my front door down.
No-one has the right to hamper my religious views and practices. Least of all the police of such a barbaric state as the one i was born and brought up in. The nasty sods.
If they do break in without thus warning me (my religious rights I value above all else), and find my hidden stocks of heroin, McKenna BrainWash CDs, and Homemade-Marmalade-(with-rind) bombs, then I'll see them in court.
Actually, coming from a methodist background, I'm biased. i'm the black sheep of a religious family, but my sociology education tells me that such radical sects as methodism were a key factor in the role religion played in preserving the status quo in this land of the fre(e/ak) at some point, by stopping people going in pubs, which were hotbeds of uprising etc.
personally, i would never go in a pub, and am all for people murdering each other in the name of religion, and also for the police (god bless 'em) having the right to break into anyone's house without a moment's notice. ~Though if they don't at least wipe their feet, they'll have my wife to answer to...
Good night, God Bless (sic)
Rapid entry a last resort, and raids into Muslim houses are to be discouraged.
Police should not look at unclad Muslim women.
No entering occupied bedrooms or bathrooms at any time.
No police dogs.
No cameras or camcorders unless advice regarding their use has been requested.
Muslim prisoners to be allowed to take additional clothing with them if arrested.
Police are not to interrupt anyone at prayer. Let them finish.
Police officers should remove their shoes before entering Muslim houses.
The justification for pre-dawn raids has to be clear and transparent.
Non-muslim police are not allowed to touch holy books or artefacts.
Believe it or not.
Rapid entry has to be a last resort.
Raids into Muslim houses are discouraged for reasons of religious dignity.
Police should avoid looking at unclad Muslim women.
No entering occupied bedrooms or bathrooms, even before dawn.
No Police dogs.
No cameras or video recorders without first seeking advice regarding their use.
Muslim prisoners to be allowed to take extra clothing to the station.
If someone is praying, police are to stand aside and wait until they have finished.
No shoes to be worn in Muslim houses.
No pre-dawn raids without transparent justification.
Non-Muslim police are not allowed to touch holy books or artefacts. Instead, a Muslim police officer in a state of Wudhu (prayer preparation) should be used.
Hopefully, this formula will be applied in the case of Christians, Jews, Mormons, Scientologists and others. Dont hold your breath.
Heeh!! Heeh!!
acw, honey I'm sorry, but that made me laugh when you got defensive about icemansav's statement about PC ness being in your genes. - That was just a figure of speech wasn't it, Icemansav doesn't even know your family and to think that you deduced his words to mean he was denigrating your family was so funny!! :-)
To answer the original question, I don't think its necessary to remove your shoes if you're doing a raid on a muslim house. I support non-violence, but it doesn't make sense, removing your shoes and then proceeding to turn the suspect's house upside down, looking for weapons, does it?
