the midwife has told me that my baby is'nt growing at the right birth rate. any advice would be appieciated

I can understand why you are concerned, but only your GP or Midwife can advice you. I'm sure all will work out fine for you & your baby. Take care.

How old is your baby?  Or are you still pregnant and they have told you there is IUGR (Intra-Uterine Growth Retardation)?

Instead of coming on here and looking for advice from people who (with all due respect) probably don't know what they are talking about but like to sound like they do talk to your MIdwife or GP as they are undoubtedly in a better position to advise you

Gevs - I do hope you are not referring to my reply.  I always advice anyone asking medical questions, to visit their GP, Nurse or Midwife, as I have done above.

smudge, why would I be referring to your reply? I would think it is pretty obvious that we are saying the same thing don't you? Or can't you see that? The point I was making is that there seems to be an awful lot of people on here who claim to know everything about everything and I don't know about you but I wouldn't trust any of them when it came to giving advice on my baby's health. I'm actually quite gobsmacked that anybody would!

There are a lot of reasons, and a big variation in "too small" Some are a serious problem, often it is not.

Talk to the midwife/hospital about it.

 

I was in for weekly scans with my last baby, and had a doppler scan to check bloodflow. All OK, but still "too small". I was told they'd induce if she didn't keep up.

HOWEVER the scans are not very accurate in reality, so it was more of a cautionary exercise.

In the end, she came one week early, weighing 5lb13 which is smallish but certainly not a major problem.

 

 Only in the last fortnight did one of the doctors think to ask if I was eating alright, and I explained that I had had appalling acid reflux all the way through and had trouble eating even a normal amount of food. DURRR!!!! That'll be it then, she says - have these prescription antacids, and spend as much time as possible resting and eating!!
