They say 'never go back'...whoever 'they' are...but I'm going back to visit (possibly/hopefully to live? my home town after 31 years and I know there must have been and have been changes, but has anyone been back to where they were and have been disappointed or hopefully pleasantly surprised at what they've found? Memories are so hard to break and the yearning doesn't make it easy. Any advice?...I probably won't take it, but it would be interesting to know. Ta Muchly.

Many Thanks one and all for your sad, mad and strange memories, but I'm still going back...I have to now, as it's all booked...but it's only for four days, so I'll have to wait and see...and listen too of course. I only hope I don't regret it. A lovely name Rowanwitch.
As a little girl I lived in a small town in Somerset called Yatton, I had great memories.
After I married & had children I took them to this place. Big mistake, it had changed soo much. It brought a tear to my eye.
I'll never do that again. Once you've pulled the roots up its very hard to establish them again.

Every time I go back to Newcastle it feels less and less like my home. I hardly recognise the city centre these days.

The transformation of my favourite pub The Bacchus into a horrible wine bar was bad enough, but the demolition of the Handyside Arcade was the last straw - Bobbi will understand...
