Sorry to ask just need some advice
I have asked this previously but wont prolongue what I need to ask anyone who is affay with this matter
firstly speaking from anyones personal experiance has anyone recentley visited the USA with a criminal record? if so what did you do to get in ESTA form? or visit the Embassey and london and apply for a visa?
secondly if it you did visit what crime were you convicted for if you have a record, you see I have a harrasment conviction from 2007 (texting my ex) silly stuff but it happens in the heat of the moment.
Is this something I need to worry about? I know moral turpitude plays a factor but that law is a vague as anything I've ever read and I cant see how harrasment stands up next to armed robbery per say as a bad crime
Im booked to go in January 2011, should i tell the embassey now and get myself sorted out can anyone give me a personal insight or atleast some advice without linking me to the US embasseys site
thanks all

Not strictly true - if you can truthfully answer the questions on the ESTA then you don't need a visa. Note the truthfully - to do that you have to understand them the way the US means them and it sounds like you don't.
The US Embassy (quite rightly to judge by the understanding demonstrated by many posters here and elsewhere) simply do not trust the British public to understand the questions, therefore their advice is for any conviction is apply for a visa and let them decide whether your crime is moral turpitude or not.
If it isn't, then you will get your visa straightaway (and didn't really need to apply for it). If it is then you may or may not get a visa depending on how serious a crime it was and how long ago it took place. There will most likely be a delay whilst they make the decision or refer it to Washington.

of course people go to the States and dont declare and you should be okay, but once you contact the USA embassy they have your name etc on file then you have certainly have to apply thru them for a visa, but if you have not contacted them they dont know sweet all about you. I am presuming you have a Britsh passport ?
My pal went the day after her probation order ended, nobody bothered her and she certainly did not declare it, also they look for body language whilst you are in the queues after landing, try to act normal and dont look nervous, dont do anything that makes you stand out in a crowd.
