We are now into Week 3 (of a 5-week month) when the elusive Strix once again proved evasive. Only SIX entrants managed to hunt down the regal setter, as he plumped for the following links:

There was a single early hit, when tearinghair ordered a SQUARE MEAL for TWO POINTS ~ to be followed by cliffyg (Entrant #13) with the very same order within time to pick up his Two Points. Did the shape of dog biscuits give him a clue?

It would take a slippery customer to pin down slippery Strix and so it was to be! Slippery slaney submitted a COPPER PLATE entry with a touch of PAN ACHE (for FOUR POINTS) to enhance her reputation based on last week’s superb performance. Thereafter disclosed a long lean spell of pointless answers, until Entrant #32 in the guise of ChrisHewat came on the scene to claim all three of the previously predicted hits. Although he scores only Three Points, I have no hesitation in nominating him as HOT SHOT OF THE WEEK.

The crowds go wild and shout “Encore”

With one link still to find, Chris was closely followed by our Canadian friends ~ the Ont-ices. Both were to pick up points! Mrs O had a Square Meal (for One Point) and Mr O claimed an HOUR GLASS (figure) for TWO POINTS to close off the scoring for this week.

Thanks crofter and Strix. Panache indeed! I did wonder about Pandemic (remember Swine flu?) and rejected it on the grounds that I couldn't make 'demic' into a word; but never thought of 'ache'.... Nice one!

Well I have to say Strix 'I don't believe it!' in true Victor Meldrew tones - I have never had 3 links before - just a shame I have no chance to add to it - we are AWOL for the next 2 weeks!! See you all in November.
