A friend's child wants a Laminator for Christmas do all A4 pouches fit all laminators or are they like computer ink cartridges.

Just to tidy up C-A-S's answer:

All pouches can be used in any laminator as long as their thickness doesn't exceed the maximum permissible for that particular laminator.For example, these are 125 microns thick, and can be used in any laminator:

However some pouches are thicker, giving a 'stiffer' end result. If you stick to using the relatively 'floppy' 125 micron or 150 micron pouches, they'll definitely work in any laminator. But the 200, 250 and 350 micron pouches which are also available might jam up some (usually cheaper) laminators.
