We have a quiet Christmas too micmak, just us, might see friends later - it's all over too quickly anyway! We enjoy the feelings of goodwill and harmony, that's our Christmas - and yes, I too love the spring.
Did you see my FAO micmak thread earlier, in Animals and Nature.....?
i feel much the same micmak. we go through the motions of it all for our bit of family that's left, not the same as it was a few years ago. trying very hard this year not to be down and sad but to be truthful will be glad when it's all over and we can look forward to some adventures in 2011. roll on spring :o)
We are having a quiet Christmas, hopefully as we will be packing to go on holiday the week after.

When I was a kid during the war we got an apple, orange and a small toy and it was marvellous. Now its compulsory over indulgence and spending. Luckily, friends see it the same way.
I would skip December completely. I get more pleasure from seeing the first appearance of aconites and snowdrops than I ever get from Christmas. I absolutely love the spring. We just have a quite time at home and a lovely meal with our close family now that there are no children about.
Sea dogg, where did you get your oranges - they were only on a blue ration book, or green, my memory is getting a bit off. For those of you too young to remember the war I think it was for under 5's. Everyone I have asked round here say they do not like Christmas, so why do we bother.
i like xmas !
Christmas day is going to be a bit bland this year, we're having a pork chop with all the trimmings for lunch. Boxing day is going to be our feast day, crackers, presents, kids, relatives. friends, and we're all having it in our local restaurant.
No washing up, No 2-3 loads in the dishwasher, no endless pans, crockery & cutlery to put away, Ahhhh Bliss!!

Christmases always bring back memories of the happiest one we enjoyed when I was little. Father had just been released from jail and he took all mums National Assistance money and drank it. Our Christmas dinner was a plate each of fried bread and there were no presents.
Despite all that I was happy because we were all together as a family. :-)
'Ere, your name's not Tiny Tim, is it, Sandy?
sandy...just goes to show xmas neednt be about presents or loads of food and spending lots of money,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,im really happy you treasure that memory .
Tiny Tim's dad struggled to do his best for all his family. His was a happy family compared to mine.
awww sandy man, I am a real soft touch, thats sad but happy also
Oh heavens! Difficult to know if you're joking now Sandy. Best I duck out and go to bed then. I'd be devastated if I thought I'd caused you offence - but I still can't believe you are serious.

Night all. x
