Qualified?

On a Christmas Card from an acquaintance was this note:

"Although we have two qualified children, the situation for jobs is so bad in the UK,that they remain unemployed...hopes for 2011"

The two "qualified" children.......one left school at 17yrs of age (because he didn't like school) the other embarked on a "Hairdressing Diploma" which she failed to finish.

How can a parent call these children "qualified" or am I missing something?

I`ve just read this thread. The question was, How can a parent call these children qualified? They can`t, because they`re not. Simple
