Dodgy plumbing?

I know that all the pipes were all frozen etc but I used the bath/shower at the end of last week and it took days for the water to go away to wherever it goes. I just left it and it went away.

Today I figured that as the temperatures are back above zero it would be back to normal. There is still about 6 inches of water in the bath after this mornings shower.

Could the drains just be overtaxed with the flood of water going into them with the thaw - or do I have a problem with my plumbing? I stick drain cleaning stuff down the drain on a regular basis.

I am still not brave enough to use the kitchen water supply and the washing machine -

- but I am running out of essential clothing and might have to think of a Plan B.

You probably had quite a big buid-up of ice Wolfie. It might take a while to melt. If you reckon it should have gone by now, then it might be back to my first thoughts (on previous thread) ................... someone's gonna have to go up a ladder!

It is three floors up and that would need an awfully long ladder.

We are getting the roof fixed in the next month or so (I hope as there is water seeping in a wall and dripping elsewhere - getting the others to agree to the work has been taxing) and there will be scaffolding up so they can at least have a look at it then

It really has been exceptionally cold for a few weeks.

One day last week I had to give the kitties bottled water - they were not impressed and Frankie started running after me crying his eyes out (drama queen/tom). I have now bottled water for them as a precaution.

Thanks for your help.
You could try pouring a good amount of salt over the plughole area. As it dissolves some of it might hopefully filter down the pipework and gradually thaw ice lower down.
