Slow Cooker

Hello.
Recently I bought a Slow Cooker off a friend and have realised that I don't know nothing about them and don't know any recipes to use with it.
Can you put a whole joint of meat in a slow cooker and it will cook? Is this with or without water? Can you cook cakes with one?
Could anyone suggest some recipes or even maybe a web site that may have slow cooker recipes and information??

Mind you it is an American site so measurements are different but you can easily convert the cup sizes.And they call it a crockpot.If you type crockpot into Google you will get loads of sites.

I do Chillis, Curries, Bolognese, Soups, Roasts, Stews, and Braised Steak in my slow cooker, just bung in everything in the morning, give it a good stir, a few stirs during the day if you are passing, and by tea-time its all ready and far more tender that by conventional methods, with the added bonus of no burning or sticking.
i usually just throw in some chicken fillets and a jar of whatever sauce I fancy plus maybe some tinned tomatoes to pack it out a bit. Last night in fact I used M&S chardonnay sauce watered down with some white wine, and added some chopped mushrooms about 30 mins from end. This means when we get in from work we just have to put the rice on. It's also great for spag bolog or chilli but remember to brown the mince first.
