2011 CENSUS

I have received my 2011 census form.
Notes state that it will not be shared with any other government body but will be used to help local governments access their towns needs etc.
Do they give names or just the number statistics to them.

yes mine says the occupier too - i meant the results when you have filled it in will have your name on them, as well as a lot of other information...they are not anonymous

You think there are a lot of personal ...and silly questions on the form...I used to live in Spain and you should have seen THAT one!!!!They wanted to know everything about you short of how often you went to the loo....needless to say many of us did not do it...straight to the garbage bin,it went.

What`s this about our censuses being sent to America...what the hell has it to do with them!!!!!

While I am not happy about putting all my personal life details on paper I realise that it will be invaluable if any of my descendents wish to do their family tree,
I have done...still doing..mine and found the censuses invaluable for the British branch of my ancestors.
Another thing puzzles me...as Dotty will know,they only state where they lived,members of the family ,martial status,age,occupation and where born.Nothing more,so why all the intimate and once again,I say,silly questions!!!!!!

Do I REALLY have to do it??????????

Mine was addressed to The Ocuppier...what if no one lived here...????

Also,how could a landlord fill it in for you...would not know the correct answers.

"it will not be shared with any other government body" doesn't say that they won't sell the information to financial instituytions, phone companies, double glazing companies etc.

Don't trust the Census and I really don't trust Lockheed Martin

I wonder at how folk can tell all the world their business on Face Book etc.,I am registered on it,under an alias,only use it for genealogy purposes,That is family names etc.

They don`t need to fill in the census,...everything about them is right there!!!!

I'll be one of the 2011 census collectors. This is basically why you have to do it.

"The information obtained from a census is used by government, local authorities, health provders, commercial businesses and other users to develop their policies and plan services effectively. As billions of pounds of public money is distributed using census figures it is vital that every individual is reached and engaged with. If, for example, people are missed, there may not be enough funds allocated for healthcare or education in a particular area"

Also, its illegal if you dont complete it.

"Central government, local government, the health sector, businesses and market researchers, academi reasearchers and the education sector, genealogists and the public at large rely heavily on the census results for a wide range of purposes:
-resource allocation : it is crucial that population estimates are accurate, consistent and comparable between areas.
-targeting investment: data much be consistent nationally to allow investment to be made in the areas its most needed.
-planning: basic population counts by key characterists, such as ethnic group, household type and size are important for planning.
-policy making and monitoring: there is a clear drive across government for policy initiatives to be evidence based therefore basic info on population size, age, sex, migration etc is important.
-research: the ability to produce statistics for small areas is vital for many research uses. Basic population estimates and counts by characteristic are also required."

Also, it's illegal if you don't complete it. You are obliged to fill it in by law.
