Not a question. Just to let you know that there is a free booklet about how to research your family history included with today's Scotsman newspaper. It is focussed on doing research in Scotland but may be of some general use.
I am always in awe of the way the Scottish civil registration was introduced and contained so much more info than it's English& Welsh counterpart. It is also amazing that they allowed marriages anywhere rather than in just churches or register offices.
I'll take your word for that Dot. I have never been involved in that sort of research. The booklet is a cut-down version of 'Tracing Your Scottish Family History' by Anthony Adolph.
