Am shortly going to Budapest - should I take the Hungarian Forint or, as the Post Office recommends, US Dollars?

Thanks

I went to Budapest a year and a half ago and took Hungarian Forint out of the cash machine when I was there.  Just a word of advice though - try to spend everything you take out because it's worthless if you exchange it back to the pound (I think from memory you only get 1/2 the value)

Spent five days there last month, and got excellent rate of exchange, Forints for sterling, at the hotel, also good rate when we used credit card for meals/purchases etc. Nearly everywhere accepted Visa/Mastercharge, and also the ATMs took switch (and had English screens).

As an aside, the public transport system is the best I have ever come across - but buy a book of tickets or a pass. Makes life much easier.

Forgot to mention - The airport plus some of the stores accept euro's quite happily!
