The jury in this case have returned an 'unlawful killing verdict. I am so pleased and hope that the officer involved will face criminal proceedings. For too long, thugs within the police force have been getting away with things like this. Why the CPS initially said that there was insufficient evidence to prosecute this officer is beyond me. Who else would get away with using a weapon against a strolling man, hands in pockets, and then pushing him violently, with all of this caught on camera?

I know someone who was at the inquest for several days whilst the policeman gave evidence. He told me it was so clear and blatantly obvious that he was lying even the coroner was nodding during this time. He also showed no remorse. I hope he gets a full criminal trial, and if convicted sent down for a long time.

The first autopsy was conducted by a pathologist that is under investigation for incompetence in multiple other cases, which confused things initially.

It does seem that this officer is one of those that joins the police for all the wrong reasons, and is quite prepared to lie on oath

All sympathies to Mr Tomlinson's family, but the police get damned if they do and damned if they don't. They have no prior knowledge of how bad a scene is going to develope, and I guess they get a bit scared and excited too. I do feel that push could not have caused internal bleeding, but obviously something did. BTW if the yobs didn't riot in the first place, these things would not happen!

neti, the poor guy was just going home at the end of the day's work. No threat to the police or the yobs or the G20 or anyone else. Now he's dead, for no reason at all. I'd like his killer prosecuted, same as any other killer.

There are expert witnesses who have a known tendency to give evidence in favour of the defence or the prosecution - nobody says they're unprofessional, but it's down to the way they are ....
Solicitors have lists of these experts and decide who to use in a particular case.

Yes jno, I have seen the footage and it is disturbing and shameful, but I still query that the push could cause internal injuries. Like I said, everyone was on edge, there was no reason to push the poor guy, but the police were or had been attacked by yobs so guess the pc had reached his limit, as people often do. Dreadful occurance.
