I probably looking for that perfect foundation that doesn't exist!
Basically one that has...
* good full coverage (to cover quite a lot of scarring) * looks natural, not overdone or orange after a long day! * and ideally helps with a slightly oily t-zone
I'm fed up of trawling round shops looking at all the different liquid, mousse and mineral foundations etc, so I thought i'd ask on AB. I'm kind of happy with my current one (Barbara Daly @ Tescos) but I still have to spend ages using concealor and want one that does both without caking it on!
I don't mind spending that bit more if it's an amazing foundation but any thought welcome
you learn alot on AB,some members are so helpful and full of compassion, some are horrid and need to be ignored, makes life interesting though. Good luck with the make up but bet you look better without it.
I also tend to stick to Tesco Barbara Daly like you - as so many of the others are a waste of money. However this is not my ideal - it'sjust kinda the one that I have to make do with as I aint found the perfect one yet.
On a positive not e re: makeovers...most of the cosmetic brands insist you pay 15 - 20 if they do a makeover (this is redeemable upon any purcahses afterwards though. HOWEVER... I had one a week or two back with Lancome
and they do not charge you a penny. There was no "hard sell afterwards" at all. Maybe their brand might suit you?
No the beautician who did it said they don't charge - ever. I went to one that was in a large branch of debenhams. She said NONE of the Lancome counters charge. I had a full makeover, (cos I felt like spoiling mysefl) and she did the works from the cleansing, moisturising etc thru to having a full face of make-up and not a penny charged. So I am sure that simply matching foundations will be a doddle for 'em. Good luck, give it a go.
Ooh I'm going to Debenhams with my mum on Friday, totally forgot they had makeup counters! I'm going to nip over and be honest and tell them what I'm after.
And foundation doesn't look like concrete or horrible or anything when applied right, it looks lovely and as has been said, gives women confidence. I feel a million times better when I've got a bit of makeup on and I never, ever trowl it on.
I use the MAC mineralise foundation and although I love it and it's perfect for my skin, I think it would be a bit light for your skin (it is very light coverage)
I would recommend Maybelline Mousse foundation for you, it covers a multitude of sins I've found! The one I have is a good natural looking colour but full coverage, and not expensive at all!
some of the girls at the beauty counters are great. Try and find one who doesn't look too intimidating.
They can just test for shade and coverage using a patch of skin around the jawline. They clean a bit of your make up off first and tidy up afterwards so no need to go to the shops with no make up.
I bought 2 from L'Oreal recently, have an old one from Olay and a Lancome tester. The Estee Lauder Double Wear is different class to these imo and when I first tried it was different class to anything I had tried previously.
i really like max factor pan stick. think its been going years my mum got me onto it! im really pale and it doesnt look orange on me at all! it looks like a massive stick concealer and is nice and thick, but spreads around quite easily. been using it years give it a go!
Chantecaille Real Skin sounds exactly what you are looking for. My mate has quite lined skin and it really made a difference. Go to Space NK where they will make sure you get the right shade. Costs 52 though.
