Internet and mobile phones

I know its been asked before, but technology has moved on since then........... how can use my mobile phone to connect from my computer to the internet without going through BT and with broadband speeds........ please no replies for dial-up etc.......... thanks

The first thing to find out is whether 3G is available in your area and if so from which networks (you could go into your local Phones4U or carphone Warehouse and ask them).

T-Mobile, Vodaphone and Orange have 3G data cards for the PCMCIA slot of your laptop. The speed of the Vodaphone one is given as 384 kbps (so faster than dial-up but not as fast as broadband).
