its not a new thought about how much more you pay for goods, but get so much less. I bought some free range eggs, and they were supposed to be medium, the price is enough to make you keel over, out of the box they look tiny, i did look at them in shop, does anyone find the same. Crisps, i know you are not supposed to eat them but empty a packet out and you wouldn't feed a bird, not that i would do that, i think we are being conned.
Contents on packets, and what's actually in them varies so much. Just stop eating, perhaps that's the answer.
This is not new. It's now some years since a very famous gin (I won't say which but there's a gay Scottish dance of that name) was watered down from the standard strength of 40% alcohol to 37-and-a-half% with the price remaining the same. If a cellarman or dairyman did that he'd be prosecuted. Pleased to say that I have never bought that gin since, which will certainly have affected their profits more than somewhat.
Gordon bennett you mean, I knew a publican, can't say name for fear of reprisals, that watered down the beer, and the vodka, you couldn't tell, well mostly.
We get our free range eggs from our local butcher. They are cheaper, fresher (delivered in smaller quantities, daily) and tastier. The small size is usually larger than the large size from the supermarket, and the extra large are nearly duck egg sized. We often get double yolked eggs in the box. The only down side is that you have to be at the butchers early or they sell out.
