Have you ever had a sore up your nose? Oh what a pain it is, so painful, & uncomfortable, what an ugly thing it is too. I've had it about 4 days now.
I keep knocking it,when I turn in the night it wakes me up. I do put cream on it at night but not in the day, it looks too disgusting, I know I've got to ride it through but I wanted to share my misery.

I get a lot of cold sores, and I find Cedarwood essential oil dries them up more quickly. I really do sympathise, they are truly vile things!
Are you sure it's a cold sore and not a polyp? Both are nasty things

Thanks for your sympathy sir Alec I'm needing it right now.
Alba, No, It is a Cold sore its scabbed over now & peeping below my nostril,

I have had similar like big spots that spread and are extremely painful. Sometimes they cause my whole nose to swell! Everytime I get them I have to get antibiotic cream from docs so I sympathise with you. Never had a proper diagnosis but been told its some kind of infection (quite obvious really lol)
Question Author
Thanks Tigs, Well I've been told mine is related to the 'Herpes' bug.
and stress can help activate it as the bug lives up my nose, it takes quite some time for it to sling its hook. Grr!

Be like me and my missing tooth, wear a full face burkah!!
Jem: if it is a cold sore, steroid creams should NOT be used.
Question Author
Why didn't I think of that neti? (giggle)

Oops ginge, why? My sore seems to like it, its not half as bad since I've been using it.

Jem; no doubt Sqad will have the answer - but a cold-sore is a viral outbreak and steroid preparations shouldn't be used as they can make the outbreak worse! The info leaflet with the tube clearly states this - "DO NOT use on cold-sores".
Question Author
Thanks ginge, I've lost the leaflet that came with the cream, (Synalar)
but I'll look it
up on Google

Jem.....if steroid applied topically then use it.

Theoretically steroids should make viral infections worse, but in practice, they often do the opposite and relieve the pain.

If it is improving the situation.....continue with the synalar.
also if acyclovir has stopped working because you've used it since it came out fenistil... pencyclovir might work its a bit more expensive but worth a try...I use it now but only for real mega outbreaks tend to use a lidocaine mouth ulcer gel on them the rest of the time
I know how you feel as I get a lot of cold sores as well. At the moment I have one,yet again, on the corner of my bottom lip. And it bloody hurts!! I keep catching it and at night it always seems to bleed. I must catch it on my pillowcase all night. Jusy wish there was something I could take that would stop them forever.! Hope yours is better soon. x
