My brother gave me about a kilo of delicious cherries from his tree: the branches were bending under the weight, and he's giving them away to the family. I was in Markies yesterday and saw that 250 grams (at half price) were £2.49. Even with my atrocious maths, I can see that that works out at 1p per cherry; full price 2p per cherry.
I am going to make cherry Clafoutis with almonds.
omg marks and sparks are well cheeky... my husband got a massive punnet for either 50p or a quid off the market...they were gorgeous! really nice you got loads for free ..hope you enjoy what you make :)
Oh all you people, how I envy you fresh cherries from the tree .I too had loads of cherries on my tree (the branches were bending under the weight), then along came dozens of crows and stripped the tree bare. If I didn't laugh at it, I would have cried. Now when I see the price of cherries in the supermarket, there must have been ££££££££'s worth on my tree.AAAAARRRGGGGG...
I too have picked cherries today. Made a cherry cheesecake, 2 cherry pies, one with a lattice top, dipped several dozen in chocolate, and some cherry swirl ice cream......
