Lidl are selling these, what look to be electric, air pumps on Thursday. I'm just wondering, it says suitable for use with 12v car adapter, but do you think it will also run on 240V mains power?

Not certain, but at £8.99 I would be very surprised if it could run off 240V. The 12V adaptor probably means something to connect it to the socket in your car.
Hi flobadob, if it's a 240v pump you're after for blowing up airbeds and the like in the house the Aldi do a good one for not a lot of cash when they have their inflatables on special (and there's another which is 12v in the same style of box so take the reading glasses if you're going :) )
Be ready for a banshee style scream when it starts up though!

See it says for garage, hobbies and camping. It sounds a little annoying to think you have to get the car going just to pump up a mattress. I would be using it for the bike and perhaps our inflatable pool, if by some miracle we are forecast more than two good days of weather in a row.
I have a 12v pump (Michelin) which is used for all sorts of things and I have NEVER started the car to use it and have never had problems.
do you have link?
Question Author
no its 12volt only
What would possibly make you think that a 12v anything would work with 20 times the voltage it's designed for put into it!

I know what you are saying chuck but I meant does it have to power from a car or is there a transformer with it so that it can be used with 240V.
OH right...

there are loads of 240v - 12v transformers available..

If you've got a car battery charger that would run it.
I think a Electric pump might require a little more than 500mA

What do you think of the pump in general? Would it be good quality? I've got stuff there before and have had no issues with it.
