Social Anxiety
22 Answers
Hi there,
my name is Hannah and i've had symptoms of social anxiety for a while. I'm currently taking citalopram and have been for a week exactly now. It doesnt seem to be working really. Maybe i should give it more time. When im at work i feel extremely uncomfortable in the staff room on my 15 minute break. It feels like a 2 hour break in hell. I cant look someone in the eye for more than a few seconds or i feel like my eyesare bulging out at them and i have to look away. I feel rude not looking at someone when there speaking but I cant help it. Basically any suggestions that may help i'd very much appreciate. Or any other medication i could try? i start college soon and cant stop worrying about sitting in a classroom feeling like that all the time :(

just back to give everyone an update.
citalopram is certainly doing something..
i dont feel uncomfortable near as much as i used to now.
i still get nervous and worry i cant do things that i can probably easily do.
i went to meet a friend the other day and was worrying i'd feel uncomfortable and ended up really enjoying myself and feeling myself again.
there was the odd moment i felt it creeping up on me..but this might sound strange but if i concentrate as hard as i can i can block it out and its gone.
but it is very up and down..i seem to have bad and good days which isn't great. asides from that i am over the moon about the good days and not feeling uncomfortable..i feel normal again. its been over 2 weeks now and im hoping everything will be fine for college. i hate these off days though..i just want to stay in and feel sorry for myself..which probably doesnt help!
just a question i'd like to ask..
will the days i feel very down get better in time?
thank you guys so much for all your comments and suggestions :)
