oops sorry nanny...lol
I know the type you mean, they sound very hypnotic
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 20mg it is. Would they help me to sleep if I did take them at night? I am not sure why I take them in the morning. I must have been advised to. Would appreciate your thoughts Sqad x
More importantly would they help with having a relaxed night with few nighmares, night terrors, etc.?
I've just been put back on citalopram from mirtazipine... previously on sertraline... just struggle with side effects...If I take any of the SSRIs in the evening I get nightmares the Mirtazipine was hell they kept upping the dose thinking it was the depression stopping me sleeping and when a locum looked it up it is linked to nightmares and insomnia...although it can make you sleep which is more common. Thing I cant understand psychiatrist gave me zopiclone for sleeping for nearly 6 months she said they are not as likely to cause dependance...
Well lofty...I would take them at night and I might even double the dose if necessary to get me to sleep........try your 20 mgms last thing before going to bed.
I get to sleep very quickly Sqad, just wake up only a few hours later when all the troubles start. However, I will try it starting tomorrow!!
"•If citalopram makes you drowsy, try taking your dosage before bedtime. If it causes insomnia for you, try taking it in the morning. "

(On the dosage instructions)

Ha, ha!! In other words it either makes you sleep or causes insomnia!!
Lottie no harm in trying and if it leaves you dopey the next morning take it progressively half an hour earlier each night until you get the timing right You will find out pretty quickly if it makes things worse for you
Well I am dopey in the morning Rowan, every morning without exception. Like a Zombie as I said. So it might be the Citolapram I take in the morning makes it worse. Perhaps if I take it at night it might make me sleep better and thus not be so dopey. Trial and error I suppose. In the back of my mind I think I have been told by a GP that citolapram actually doesn't make you sleepy (quiet the reverse) and to take it in the morning because it will stop me sleeping at night.

But I am going to try taking it at night. It won't hurt.
For years I have been suffering from insomnia and am now on sleeping pills now for 3 years I dont feel I am addicted not for one bit but one thing I do know I sleep - even if I get five -6 hours - that is wonderful to me and I dont get up like a miserable oul bear and tired and fatigued that I want to back to bed again. God bless sleeping pills. If you cant get them from Doctor get Sominex over the counter - they are the nearest but a cup of warm milk 2 of those and you drift. Good luck because I have been through it all. Good luck Jen
it is a horrible thing i agree, and unfortunately its gone on for years. Won't take any medications for it, as i have done in the past and the side effects were worse than the insomnia.
I have been an insomniac for many years and find that the only way that I can get any sleep at all is to listen to books on tape. I listen to a lot of murder mysteries like Agatha Christie novels as I find that if I am concentrating on listening to the person on the tape speaking, it sends me to sleep. It does not do much for Mr Bagpuss who has to go to sleep every night listening to murder but he can sleep through anything, the lucky git!
