It is no secret BP signed oil deals.
It is no secret that Blair visited Gaddafi.
It is no secret that Labour didn't release Magrahi, the Scottish Government (Not Labour) did.
It is no secret the UK Government tried to normalise relations with Libya.
So there is nothing in these documents that is a surprise at all.

Labour, with hindsight made a very bad call cozying up to Gaddafi. It was done with the best of intentions, to help British companies and British jobs. But not long into that new relationship came the Arab Spring Revolutions and the overthrow of our new 'friends'.
Fortunately we have helped to topple our new friends and assisted our even newer friends. The average Libyan as probably as perplexed by the British Governments as we are.

The problem is our war nation tends to get in the way of soft diplomacy. They don't go together. Can you imagine having diplomacy in future with Afghanistan, Iraq and now Libya. Nobody will trust us! At the same time Germany, Russia and China are sitting on the sidelines ready to move in and collect the spoils.
