m.o.t pass or fail ?

a screw has been lodged in tyre of my car, it is due for m.o.t in few days, tyre has very slow punture and i have to put air into it around every 3-4 days, if m.o.t examiner see,s this can he fail the car, tyre will be fully pumped up during test so not mechanical failure.

THANKS.....just cannot afford for new tyre although the tread is very very good as new.

The place I get them from, they are nearly new! Nothing wrong with them at all, for example they may get them from a car that has been scrapped, but nothing wrong with the tyres. But as they can't sell them as new, as they are not, they sell as part worns. I have never had an issue with them :D and they fit them for you and everything hehe. I will have a look for you now :) x

Not sure if these are any good to you, hopefully some help though. You could probably narrow your search down with your actual town, I just googled 'part worn tyres in west midlands' and the list came up :) good luck x

There are a few sellers on eBay.
They list the depth remaining .. is 7mm.
I have had a few for my runabouts .. good stuff .. great value.

If the screw is away from the sidewalls .. and on the main tread, it can be repaired. If on the edge or sidewall, it's scrap.
MOT fail if spotted, as are cuts in sidewall which EXPOSE underlying material.

With respect to the answers regards PART WORN TYRES, myself I would think twice about part worn Tyres, I am not loaded with money but I think my life is worth more than going for a chippie, I understand a lot of people have not got the money for new but it would always be on my mind if on the Motorways, has the tyre that I have just bought got a Tyre casing problem, but thats my view.

My niece recently bought a set of part worn tyre from our local tyre place and they'd still got the markings and little bits of rubber you always get on new tyres. When I saw the trye guy, who also runs scrap yard, in the pub he said the the car they'd come off had done less the 300 miles before being written off in a smash. I suppose it's a matter of being there at the right time she paid about a third of the cost of buying the tryes new

Roxie, the casing is the body of the tyre ( the sides) my own wife kerbs her car tyres not once but many many times, this cannot do the body of the tyre any good, I have on many journeys seen Eggs on tyres ( A bulge in the tyre walls) I have had these on the HGVs that I used to drive, when they blew, you knew it, I always check my tyres on a visual basis daily & always check the pressures weekly ( No, I'm not bull shting) I value my wife's & my self's life & its the likes of bad tyres that can end your life quickly

part worn does not mean bad!
it just means they have been used...no different from tyres on your own vehicle after a while of use....some may only be a few months old, but they cant sell as new as they look used...they are not bald or anything.
they are sold by garages who check them and see they are fit for purpose...if not they are discarded and the rubber re-used...

bit of a kneejerk reaction and daft assumptions there...

gingebee- no he wont...i had my mot today and they did not fail me on the nail in my tyre - they noted it and suggested i get it sorted as soon as i can...he even said i coudl just leave it if i wanted but it might come out eventually and the tyre will go down
