/// On the show’s online messageboard, many viewers registered their complaints. saying that the routines have become too gimmicky.
“Wish we could leave the props alone and go back to just dancing,” said one. ///
Do you agree? I myself think it adds a certain amount of interest to what could be otherwise a rather systemic and boring show.
/// Some suggested that viewers might be voting to save Miss Dell’Olio’s partner, Anton du Beke, ///
I also agree that the only purpose to retain feisty Dell’Olio, is this fact.
Is it really fair for the likes of Jason Donovan to appear on this contest taking into account his high profile stage musical career?

I was watching for any reaction to this from either Nancy or Bruno, but there was none.
Do you think all this hype is to instil interest in the show?
We have had Nancy's torn ligament in her knee, and Russell who has been hypnotised to stop him thinking about his bad hip.

Love the show, if Jason Donavon took dance lessons beforehand that that just shows how seriously he's taking it, and all the others had the same opportunity to, but in some cases obviously decided not to! I think that Harry from McFly is doing really well and is lovely to watch, and I do hope that poor Anton gets a partner iwho is really capable of dancing properly in the next series - he alwaus seems to get the useless ones, although they may be quite amusing with it - I'm thinking Anne Widdicombe, rather than Nancy de whotsit. I also really like Craig Revel-Horwood, it seems to me that he talks good sense, rather than gushing on about "You owned the floor!" etc and he's obviously there to be the pantomime villiain.
I love it too but my enjoyment comes from seeing the improvement in the dancers every week and how hard they work to get there. Russell is so having the time of his life and so very grateful to be on the show that it's quite touching. I don't think there's any chemistry between Artem and Holly, or if there is he's hiding it and she's not as good a dancer as Kara was at this stage last year. In fact I don't think Holly has a good personality or any sex appeal at all - likes herself too much. Loving Rory Bremner though, he's doing a good impersonation of a dancer.
Rowan - what do James and Ola talk about when they get home at night? Or are they deadly rivals once the series starts. Love Russell and Robbie, Audley is having the time of his life, Lulu is so wooden and I can't believe that Nancy D'Oily One is still there as she is appalling . Sad to see Dan go and her still in.
I have said on another thread, AOG, that Nancy looked stoned to me with legs and arms flying all over the place, and that Anton looks like he was dancing with a ventriloquist's dummy. She is dire, but it makes me laugh and that's good.
Compare the judges on Strictly to that awful lot on X factor. The mix is just so right!!

Yep, all the famous entertainers used to have variety shows on their own, the Tom Jones Show, Andy Williams, etc. etc. which had talented guests. You were guaranteed a relaxing hour where you could unwind. Doesn't happen very much now.
That's why Strictly is so good, you can just sit there and enjoy yourself.

i love strictly, the series is going well, although i do tire of the 'keep em in to see how rubbish they can really get' routine. there does seem to be a gaping chasm between the performing arts lot (jason, holly, anita etcc) and the non-performers (audley, edwina, nancy and dan).
happy to keep props in providing they are not overused and limit the 'dancing content'.
i hate variety shows. mostly they make me cringe or they are full of singers warbling some latest r&b hit.
bring back noel edmonds house party, thats what i say !!

Amazing transformation Robbie savage was an evil b on the footie field.. a really nasty player who has seen more cards than a professional gambler but in strictly... an adorable charmer... he's currently my mums favourite and she has picked the winner every series so far... I liked Darren Gough, and Tom Chambers Dazza because he was such a bloke but his quickstep was amazing Tom was consistantly good,,Alesha was amazing as was Kara
