Yes........or, no........depending upon your viewpoint.
It may take some time for the implications, if any, to emerge.
I dont understand the financial intricacies of it. Does anyone? Or does it depend on your political point of view?
I think he's succeeded in ostracising us in Europe- we should either be ' in' Europe or out of it- this spitting the dummy out whenever we have to join in is just embarassing and I'd think it's safe to say that our unhelpful attitude has been noted and we will now get absolutely nothing out of our limited membership.
We weren't in the Eurozone anyway. I'm uncomfortable about what's happened but maybe it's part of a longer game. The UK stock market seemed to think it was good news
I dunno, Nox... Britain is in the EU but not in the Eurozone, so he's under no obligation to do anything about the euro, and they're under no obligation to listen to what he has to say on the subject. But they want to police their tighter eurozone restrictions by using institutions like the European Court, which actually cover non-euro countries like the UK, and he's arguing that they can't.

It would be nice if staying out of it all somehow protected the UK from the euro falling to pieces, but it won't because it's heavily involved in trade with the eurozone anyway.

Tricky business and all he can do is try to look tough while avoiding blame but still avoiding a referendum.
George Osborne was warning us of the dire consequences for Britain if the Euro failed.
Which makes DC's political grandstanding (otherwise to be expected) rather puzzling given that it was likely to threaten any agreement to save said currency.
