Not to sound really daft but i want to move the sky box to another part of the room and the cable from the statellite only goes so far. I've read online that i need a cable extension but it says for sky hd you need a cable with to ends such as this one: Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

but i just want to make 100% sure before i buy!!
thanks in advance x

Yep, the link worked. That's the one you need.

Al is wrong... regardless of how many "years he's been doing this".

Indeed, primarily targeted at multiroom subscribers and also used for FreesatFromSky installations, but it still exists.
Yes I agree .. for non-Sky folks ... who use an old sky card in the slot
as you cannot record without a sky sub .. or for multi-room use.

Nobody was arguing the primary use, the argument hinged upon

"It's SKY+HD ... and ALL the new boxes are HD boxes ... which record ... ALL of them."
But the OP doesn't say this is her main box. She has enquired about multiroom in the past (as you have pointed out) so chances are, this is her multiroom "bog standard" box, which won't have the option of having two cables.
