HP Laptop screen problem

I have a HP G60 laptop on Windows Vista, had it just over 3 years now. It's a great laptop but just recently the screen just goes white quite regularly. Usually if i close the laptop and wait 10 seconds it works fine again. Starting to do it more often now and it's really starting to annoy me. Any ideas what could be wrong or is it time for a new laptop.

P.S. It's done it twice while i've been typing this question.

Most likely a bad connection somewhere (either screen cable to main board, or screen cable to back of screen panel)

Not a hard thing to check for somebody with experience of taking laptops apart, it can be a little daunting for somebody whos never done it before and it's easy to break the plastics if your not careful.

A decent (independent) Computer shop should check for bad connections fairly cheaply.
Usually the screen FLEX cable : )

Hinges are crap on these .. so make sure they are tight and not worn while at the job (you can get replacements)
