Some of these answers are similar to those coming from the media.
There have been similar comments such as, "it was a power thing, in so much as the FA took the decision to removed Terry from the captaincy without first consulting him", and that "he doesn't understand the seriousness of the charge against Terry", etc.

I don't see how you can call the England squad a 'sinking ship'! There's enough quality there to do a good job, Capello was obviously an excellent manager, he managed one of the greatest teams to ever take to the field (AC Milan of the early 90's), and was the most successful England manager in years. He was treated like a numpty by the FA who have acted like puppets of the British press recently.
Good luck to the next manager because the media circus will tear you to shreds!

The above two posts are imo,are getting far too"involved"!
The position of England Captain, has some fine names,in its history. With the captaincy comes an expection, that the holder maintain the highest standards. He would be a commanding figure,on the field,a skilled "diplomat" off it..and the Captains face/image should be associated with England"s finest qualities...around the World..!

JimmyCooper - based on actual factual statistics. We had a win ratio higher than Sven, McClaren, Hoddle and Keegan.
How would Ashley Young, Darren bent, Ashley Cole et al feel about being in his company for 3 weeks? Well Ashley Cole is in his company a little more frequently than that, as is Jose Bosingwa, Florent Malouda, Jon Obi Mikel, Ramires, Daniel Sturridge... etc. If they felt that Terry was genuinely racist then I'd have thought they'd have the decency to stand up and refuse to play for Chelsea while he's there.
Just to clarify, I'm absolutely not condining racism or supporting JT, just patting down the over reactionary flames a bit.
In this instance, Capello should have been consulted, and should have been urged to request that JT stand down from the captains role instead of taking it out of his hands and undermining him.
