An atheist group has won a test case banning prayers before local council meetings, is this an infringement of human rights or a victory for human rights?

I'd pray for the end of all religious nonsense . . . if I thought it would bring anyone to their senses. It's a sad commentary on the state of humanity that such irrational archaic practices remain so prevalent to this day amongst those who govern the affairs of others and yet lack the courage of conviction on the efficacy of their own mind and judgment to stand on their own two feet and acknowledge full responsibility for their own decisions. Apart from a renewed and unwavering commitment to reason, unfettered by reliance on the arbitrary whims of non-existent rulers of our fate, the realisation of any significant future human development and social progress remains without a prayer.
Yes Starman, but maybe some participants feel emboldened and psyched up after prayer, and therefore better able to make earth shattering decisions on whether to spend the coffers on keeping the library open, or cleaning the dog muck from the Queens highways. Cake, eat and all that.
Or maybe resorting to prayer in a desperate attempt to comdemn the ConDems to hell.
Hello Theland, nice to see you.

If our elected leaders need to resort to prayer to enable them to make decisions, then we're really in trouble.

And isn't ^ that ^ exactly what we should fear most?

Our ability to reason is far from perfect but it's all we really have. Shouldn't improving the one and only ability that has provided us with every single benefit we now enjoy, the capacity to reason and act rationally, be our focus?

Is that what christians do...attempt to condemn people to hell? Does that mean they don't do soul saving any more, is it because of the cuts, does the devil offer cheaper rates for processing souls.
