The English Defence League Racist?

The EDL is depicted in the media as being a racist organisation, akin to the BNP, but is there any evidence for this assertion?

If they are racist, then as far as I am concerned they would never get my support. However, their web site does not appear to promote racism, but I get the point. They are off my Xmas card list.

Coming back to my point about the name - who else could they be defending against?

Maybe they could defend England from the Scottish Nationalists?

Theland if you have facebook have a look at the EDL pages, from what i remember their info page says they are against radical Islam and are not a racist organisation, but you only have to look at the comments from supporters to realise a hell of a lot of them are racist and from what I've seen the women are as bad if not worse than the men. Not only are a lot of them racist but there are grown men taking great delight in such things as how they have scared women and children in the towns they go to and other such idiot things. The comments aren't removed by the admin they usually only disappear when the page gets shut down and theres been lots of times the comments have been encouraged. If they aren't a racist organisation then surely they would remove the posts. If you don't have facebook then there's EDL forums you could maybe find and look at, these are far worse than what ive seen on fb..... truly truly scary.

and so no one thinks im biased theres also nasty comments made by muslims on the MDL pages... the difference being the admin there usually remove the remarks and stress that this is not what they are about. A lot of fun is poked at the EDL and theres a lot of serious discussions, but out and out vile posts dont usually stay long.
