With as many as 100,000 women who have undergone this brutal genital mutilation illegally in Britain, why are the police failing to act against this barbaric practice?
/// The Metropolitan Police said since 2008, it had received 166 reports of people who fear they are at risk of FGM but it has failed to bring forward a single perpetrator. ///
/// It is the same for all 43 forces across England and Wales with no convictions for the offence ever taking place.///
We all know the reason why boys may be circumsized but what is the reason for little girls as young as 5 years to be circumsized? & really I'm quite ignorant about it what exactly do they do it & why?
Is it a trible thing?
What countries think of it as the norm?
Jem, read the thread - but take my advice, don't watch the first video unless you have a strong stomach. (I only got through a bit of the first, and couldn't bear to attempt the second). I really can't understand why Keyplus posted them.
Jeez it is grim. And the indifference to her suffering from the other women I find incomprehensible. It seems like a - we had to go through it so get over it kind of attitude. None of them comforted her or helped her. Ooh I'm raging again just thinking about it.
I have seen footage on tv that was quite explicit, and one thing that comes to mind is how complicit some women are in this barbaric practice, that someone said exactly what was mentioned in the programme, if they had it done to them, why should others be spared. That is bizarre in the extreme.
It was a documentary some time back, and they added the words, scenes of an upsetting nature, and they weren't wrong.
