Contraceptive Pill

I started taking the pill for the first time a week and half ago, on the first day of my period as I was told to do my the doctor. I'm still having my period! This means it's lasted almost two weeks non-stop. It's a much lighter flow than usual and a very very dark colour and I'm just wondering whether this is common when you first start taking the pill and whether it will probably do on until my seven day break. I'm going away for the weekend with my boyfriend and obviously the whole point of taking it was so that I could have unprotected sex with him (he loses his erection when we use condoms) so should i stop taking the pill and hope my period finishes in theenxt day or so and then take the rest of the pills in the packet or do I have to carry on as I am. Sorry this has been so long winded! x
