I thought they were dreadful! Why is it that after such a shoddy performance we read stuff like this?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/...t/0/football/18573729

WHY is he supportive of them? The need a good rollocking and having their pay docked!!! Their penalties were rubbish, especially Cole's. The commentator kept saying Parker's legs were tired - oh diddums. x thousands of pounds a week and as a finely honed "athlete" can't run around for 45 minutes? Oh REALLY? I think he should be down the job centre n that case! I would have taken Rooney off too - very lack lustre. Just as well they lost TBH, if they were that bad against Italy, I dread to think what the score would have been against Germany. Hodgson - "heroic performances" - mate you should go to spec-savers, I think you were watching a different game to me. Rant over!

Sack him and bring in Harry, he'd get a better performance out of the same players

I don't know about that Elvis. I don't think it's all about the manager, but more about the whole ethics of the game. Far too much about money, not enough hunger in the players who think they are above all and everything, and are better than the teams they represent. Just look at how manager after manager jumps to defend players who are clearly in the wrong. Look at Chelsea - taking the cheaper option of getting rid of a decent manager to placate a hard-core of trouble-makers. Clear them out and start afresh. Manage like you mean it. Come on England you deserve better than this shower.

...... and yes, it will be interesting to see how the youngsters do at the Olympics.
> Why is he supportive of them?

Because he's their manager! What else does anyone honestly expect him to say?

Alan Shearer summed it up pretty well, I thought, when he said that the current England team simply isn't good enough to compete with the best in Europe, let alone the world.

The squad on the pitch last night were the best that the manager had at his disposal, yet they were simply outclassed by a much superior team in every way.

Harry Redknapp couldn't have polished the tυrd any further...
Some of the team performed pretty well... Terry, Lescott Cole and Johnson Gerrard too but the rest of our midfield and strike force were just so out of their depth or in the case of Scott Parker unable to perform for the whole game.

That's partly my point Rowan - SOME of the team performed well. Others were dire and it really isn't good enough! It just makes me SO cross.

Mark - I'd expect him at least to be honest and say "we were terrible and if they don't got their a***s into gear, they'll be out". If Parker appears again, then I'll know there's no hope. I don't even know why I'm so worked up about the English team - I'm WELSH!!!
We did actually draw 0-0

I know Italy were the better side but they still failed to score.
England played as well as could be expected in the competition, our players are just not good enough to win major tournaments..Simple as that really!

Sir Roy did well to get them out of the group in my opinion!
for me the worst player on the pitch was Ashley Young, nevermind his penalty f-up, every time he got the ball, he immediately gave it away.

The only three players with any credit were Terry, Hart and Johnson followed by Parker/Henderson (all defence note.....) The midfield was total shyte and upfront even more, inc a glorious pussy-around by Monsieur Walcott.

Come on Portugal......they are our oldest allies after all.

Sort of agree WBA, but our expectations are, quite rightly, higher than that.
Where will England find its next generation of players? The Premiership, and the Championship to a lesser degree, is all about money and that means foreign players which in turn means no upcoming English players getting the chance. Yes, Alan Shearer was right - England simply are not good enough.
I don't know why Ashley Young was playing either.

Even if it was to dive in the penalty area (his only skill) penalties are the last thing we want!
I still say Harry would've had them playing with more flair instead of parking the bus everytime the opposition got the ball
