Nissan Ad

Does anyone else find that Nissan ad. worrying - that if you drive that big black Nissan thingy, everyone will be so scared of you? In an age where gangs and bullying seem to thrive, I don't think it gives out a very good message. What do you think?

I think it's hard to imagine that an advert for a car that "gets respect" could be in any way connected with gangs, bullying or anything other than flogging motors

you think it's acceptable then - "respect me , or else"? That's the impression it gives to me. If that's not the case, then why does everyone run and hide?

If you watch Scrapheap Challenge they have Nissan stabs before the proper ad break, in one of them a Nissan pulls into a car wash place and everyone crowds round it to start washing it. It's all about "respect", they don't say "the new Nissan, buy one to frighten people"

I think you have a point. At our agency a few years back we decided to step back from the increasing 'yob' advertising culture.

Anyone who does not think that a large black 4x4 with blacked out windows is not evocative of gang culture probably lives in a village in the cotslwods!

The 'respect' issue actually proves your point.

Of course the whole thing is daft; take that vehicle to a proper off road site & it would roll over on its back like a stranded betle. 'nuff respct' as the youth of yesterday once said.

I couldn't agree more . It's main message would be " Out of my way or else! " Not very positive.

At least Honda want us all to get along!
