Well-the blurb is good-it seems to be selling. Comments?

I dislike badly written books, I will be avoiding it.
Ummm, you've hit the nail on the head, practically all my FB friends that have enjoyed it wouldn't read from one year to the next, the rest of us that read a lot think it's a load of crap.
according to journalist Craig Brown it's tripe for the middle classes, more soft porn than highbrow art.
lol ummmmm substitute "at all" for "much" and I will agree with you.
.....Actually using the same argument as letting children read comics to "get them into reading" maybe this book is doing the nation a service?
I do read a lot of books, I was told it was a "must read"....never again! I'll stick to what I know lol
cathfromsaron - I can't stop laughing. That is so funny.

And I haven't read 50 Shades either. But I probably will do at some point, just so I know what everyone is talking about
There was a discussion about this book on Radio 2. Seems to be a divided camp, you either love it or hate it, no in-betweens. Think I'll give it a miss.
Wait for a bit and it will be in the charity shops before you can look around. Not that I would give you two pence for it - reading that one excerpt put me off completely and I am no prude. As said before the writing is dire.
it tickled me too KF

I've not read this particular book, but I could apply this comment to Dan Brown's 'The Da Vinci Code' which was painful to finish. Is this a similar phenomenon, a poorly written novel 'goes viral' ?
Heard so much hoo-haa about it so thought I'd read it and see what all the fuss is about. Just finished it Not for me. Cannot believe the central character could be so gullible
Lol cath I can't stop laughing.

Two wonderful reviews. I haven't read it and I'm not going to bother.
I've read all three and got completely drawn in. I read and would like to think I'm not thick and enjoyed them. It might not be highbrow or particularly well written (literary standard wise) but I found it a lovely diversion to just curl up and get lost in the story.
