Light bulb
Today I bought a heavy duty light bulb, 100 watt, 1210 lumen,it says on the side not suitable for household room illumination, Why Not?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.it is recommended by manufacturers that 60w max is used on ALL table lamps (due to the potential of skin burns) and in the majority of lamp shades attached to ceiling rose fittings, due to the heat output. (fire precaution) a glass envelope lamp shade may crack and splinter glass about if the *lamp (ie. *light bulb) is in close proximity. a cloth covered lampshade has the potential to firstly overheat, then scorch and then burn. that is my opinion as a qualified electrician. hope this may have cleared things a little. : )

Bought gls 100 watt heavy duty bulbs in Aldi begining August 2012. They say they are not suitable for household room illumination but this appears to be a loophole so they can be sold. Voltage is ok at 240 volts. Aldi also have 60 watt bulbs, same type.
I like reading and sewing, the so called energy savers are too weak, would need a secondary light source to avoid eyestrain. cemac
