Sadly, probably not all the trimmings and the lovely stuff AGAIN. Every year I have to suffer my family tucking into their dinner and afters while I am probably most likely to be tucking into toast. I have an illness (Dr's say it's IBS but I'm not convinced) where my body rejects food and makes me feel utterly awful for hours after eating. I won't go into detail but I've lived like this for going on 9 years now and I'm at the stage of cutting almost everything out of my diet just to stop the D as I simply cannot work out what foods are causing me to feel so terrible. I honestly think my body is shutting down now as I've just not been feeling well or hungry now for near on 2 weeks. Sorry, never meant for this post to go on so long. But there you have it.
Really sorry to hear that Lisa...not a good time for you at all. My Son had something similar with food, he went on a Lactose free diet and he's so much better. Good Luck, I hope you get it sorted x
Oh that's awful for you Lisa .IBS isn't nice .I suffer from it so we don't have anything different really .I can't eat a lot of rich food anyway .Can't stand Christmas cake and all that sickly pudding etc.
We just have our main meal .Glorified roast dinner really .Rolled rib of beef this year .No starter and some cheese and biscuits and fresh fruit afterwards perhaps .Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon for breakfast though.
No Breakfast. Sister will put it on - some small starter, a big fat turkey and the trimmings. Christmas pud - home made - and for "tea later" her delish Xmas cake - she used to make them professionally many moons ago.....and makes them for the family, so one will be coming back here!
Oh my god, Lisa, that sounds awful! I'm assuming that as you've had it for 9 years, your doctor has run tests? My sister suffers with IBS, but nothing like that!
I'll be cooking a turkey & ham dinner for a couple of friends on Christmas Eve - with Brussels Pate & Melba Toast for starters and Christmas Pud & Creme Anglaise for afters.
Christmas Day I will treat myself to a Seriously Full English Breakfast and then spend most of the day at a residential home where an elderly relative lives - helping the staff and entertaining the other inmates (her word not mine).
Then home for my favourite Christmas Tea - cold meat & pies, assorted exotic chutneys with home-made potato salad and coleslaw followed by mince pies with clotted cream .. and a glass of port, or two, or three
Dave that sounds like a perfect day....My Mum's in a brilliant home an I'm only sorry I can't split myself in two for Christmas day. Have a great one xx
We have antipasto to start , then homemade ravioli, then turkey, rib of beef and glazed ham with all the trimmings (except bread sauce!), Christmas pud, trifle, banoffee pie, NY baked cheesecake, choc roulade, pear and almond tart and cheese and biscuits and finishing off by demoloshing my homemade gingerbread house.
