In a 1982 episode, "Odd Dog Men", Foggy imagines himself as a royal corgi walker and refers to himself as "Walter Dewhirst Esquire". However in an earlier 1976 episode, "The Kink in Foggy's Niblick", a box is found with the initials "COD" which Clegg identifies as Corporal Oliver Dewhirst.

Clegg's C.O.D reference was a joke. According to the fan club website it stood for Cash On Delivery and Walter is Foggy's first name.
