Who can I talk to about hearing aids? Without commercial pressure. Especially about the problems of being TOTALLY deaf in one ear.

And please take note of some of the precautionary posts on this site - this one is a recent example - cautioning against just accepting offers from some of the companies selling hearing aids... http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Body-and-Soul/Question1207399.html

The Audiology Department of your local hospital.
^ What he said ^. Mrs 9401 has issues and the tEam at our local hospital are first class. Good luck. :)
agree - gp first, then referral to audiology team..Mr 'nobs has hearing loss and his NHS hearing aids are virtually invisible
Well...if you are TOTALLY deaf in one ear and the other ear is normal for hearing, then your deafness is probably congenital and non hearing aid will help.

But...if your hearing is deteriorating in your good ear, then certainly a hearing aid would be of immense value.
sorry sp...."no hearing aid will help."
Ask gp for referral to audiology dept at your local hospital. They will give you a hearing test and advise accordingly.
