There must be a reasons why a) the catering and hotel industry has long been largely staffed by foreigners b) when Costa coffee advertised 8 vacancies in Mapperley recently they got 1,700 applications. Their branch in Long Eaton got 900 for fewer jobs. The franchisee reported that he was getting applicants with twenty years experience in catering, people with PhDs, people with firsts, all sorts.
It could just be that jobs which British workers once refused to consider are now thought worth having.
